While trying to get through the 3D Logo Tutorial, I needed some help with setting up the gradients in the “Giving it light” step.  When I selected window>gradient, the gradients were the basic white, grey, black colors.  I wanted a reddish gradient and couldn’t get it together.  Selecting the red color from the swatches gave me a solid red.

The first thing to do is expand the dock.  Expanding the dock gives the bigger picture for gradient options including color guides and swatches.

The trick is to select the color you want, then drag it to the gradient bar.

Now that I’ve cleared up the simple problems of making a square and setting up my gradient, I can continue on with the 3D Logo Tutorial.

Oh I forgot to mention that I learned alot about gradients and how to make some cool blends on the adobe tutorial video.
