Tutorial Help Guide for Dramatic Text On Fire In Photoshop
Make A Background Gradient
Part one of the tutorial was very easy and self explanatory if you know how to create a gradient in photoshop.
Make A Textured Background
On this step, I had to click out of the tutorial to get the free textured image, and save it to my computer. Now, how do I get this textured image into my Adobe Photoshop application was the un-answered question. Thank God I ran across some information last week on Adobe Bridge CS3 and learned how to open images from my computer with it. So the Adobe Bridge allowed me to open the textured image into photoshop.
But, the image opened in a brand new photoshop file. So the next question, how do I get the image to the file I’m currently using? You know, the file we started from when we made the background gradient. I named my start file fire.psd.
And the answer, right click on your textured image Layer, then choose “Duplicate Layer”. I named mines “Brown Paper Texture”.
The duplicate tool will let you move the layer over to the fire.psd file.
Add More Texture
This was done by first using the Paint Bucket Tool to fill the layer. If you need instructions for arriving at the Paint Bucket Tool, click here and read the 2nd half of the article.
How to Overlay
The texture layer should be overlayed according to the tutorial. By the way I named my layer for the canvas texture “Canvas” via the Layer Properties option. Overlay it by right clicking “Canvas” > Blending Options, Blending Mode. Lastly, I dragged the “Brown Paper Texture” ahead of the “Canvas” layer.
