How to Make Rounded Rectangle Round, Illustrator

As I am just beginning my new icon via Adobe Illustrator CS3, I am facing the issue of my Rounded Rectangle shape not being round.
After forming the Rounded Rectangle shape, I ended up following the Effect > Stylize > Rounded Corners options as suggested here, and here. But there are two Stylize options in the Effect menu. Be sure to use the Illustrator Effect, and not the Photoshop Effect.
After selecting the Rounded Corners options, I entered 60px for my corners and they came out good.
